You may think that your business needs a website, or a new or updated website and you are probably right, but what it doesn’t need is a boring, hard to use and impersonal website. So how is a website impersonal? A website is a website right?
Well yes and no. Making sure that your website has a human touch and feel is something you have to consciously work to achieve. Make sure that your site doesn’t seem like just another website which has been churned out of a template program, but is one which actually considers your customers needs and does everything to meet them.
For example, you may have a tonne of great products and services with variations for every possible situation your customers may find themselves in. However, if you bombard your customers with all of this information instead of being spoilt for choice, they will not be able to ‘see the wood for the trees’ so to speak.
And make sure that if your website has a contact form or a subscribers list that you actually make contact with the people who take the time to give you their details. This will not only assure your customers that there are real live humans behind your website, it will also keep you in touch with what your customers want and need. While you’re keeping in touch, set up a blog on your website too to open casual but comprehensive lines of communication with your customers.
There is also no reason to make your website harder or more complicated than it needs to be. If you have an online store, make it easy to find and don’t make people log in or register to be a member before they can buy your products. If someone finds your site too hard to use, they’ll move onto the next one, there are plenty of other websites out there.
